Nuclear technology plays an important role in industrial economy. Based on the research of neutron physics and nuclear safety, IANS has developed series of technologies and products including neutron radiography system for non-destructive testing, mini neutron generator for logging, neutron narcotics and explosives detector, medicine isotopes, etc.
R&D and engineering implementation of advanced nuclear energy system, especially in utilization of liquid metal (Pb/Bi/Li etc.) coolant with the features of inherent safety, flexibility and intelligence has always been one of the important research fields of IANS. The main activities include innovative design, R&D of key technologies of advanced nuclear energy. Furthermore, the concept of fifth generation nuclear energy system (N5G) is proposed and R&D of related key technologies is underway.
Neutron and radiation transport technologies have been applied to the field of radiation medicine. A series of products and clinical applications for accurate radiotherapy have been performed, especially for the accurate neutron therapy system. The development of innovative accurate radiotherapy technology combines with novel concepts and cutting-edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence, system miniaturization and block chain, etc.
